| Agency Name Change
In 2004, the District Government passed the “Omnibus Public Safety Agency Reform Amendment Act of 2004," which included provisions renaming what was then know as the Office of Citizen Complaint Review (OCCR) and the Citizen Complaint Review Board (CCRB). The law, which took effect on September 30, 2004, renamed the office and the board to the Office of Police Complaints (OPC) and the Police Complaints Board (PCB). The Mayor and the Council renamed the agency in order to more clearly convey its mission. Beginning on January 1, 2005, OCCR and CCRB began to be known as OPC and PCB. |
